N I — C O Apparel
2019 — 2021
In August 2019, N I — C O Apparel was launched as a not-for-profit initiative with a mission to create positive change. Founded as a collaboration between two individuals using their creativity for charity, the initiative produced three collections over three years.
The Empathy collection was a partnership between Danish art director Michael Gad and Danish designer Nicolai Henriksen, based in Denmark and Australia, respectively. Each independently designed one side of the shirt. In April 2020, Shirt #20 was sold, generating a donation of A$446.47 to the Foundation for Excellence in Mental Health Care.
For the second collection, Amity, French graphic and interface designer Tiffanie Mazellier, based in New Caledonia, collaborated with Nicolai Henriksen. In April 2021, Shirt #20 was sold, raising A$590.46 for the Australian Koala Foundation.
The third collection, Aecor, was designed by British illustrator and designer Tobias Hall in collaboration with Nicolai Henriksen. With twice as many units produced compared to previous collections, the increased volume led to greater charitable contributions. In April 2022, Shirt #40 was sold, and in May 2022, A$1,350 was donated to The Ocean Cleanup.
